I underwent a throat examination involving a tube passed up my nose, a procedure I have experienced many times before at the hands of various doctors. There is usually some mild discomfort involved, depending to some extent on the dexterity of the doctor. With one notable exception ( now retired! ) all the doctors have taken great care, but Dr Siva proved to be particularly adept, his examination being the most comfortable I have experienced. He proved pleasant, friendly, and very easy to communicate with.

I had a consultation with Dr Siva after having previous surgery. His confidence and knowledge around future surgery was amazing, I was able to feel at ease with his suggestion at having a second operation to give me the results I wanted. I came away from it feeling positive and happy whereas in the past I had felt quite unsure of what the operation would entail. I highly recommend Dr Siva and actually look forward to surgery to see the results.

On my routine dental appointment last Fri (05/08/16) my dentist (Welcare Dental Centre in Morecambe) found a lump in my throat/neck and suggested I have it checked out at my Dr's. The mention of a lump anywhere on the body for most people can send them into spasm, I'm no different. I do check for breast lumps but who checks their throat/neck? Obviously on a late Friday aft I couldn't get into a Dr that quickly so had to wait until the Monday morning. On ringing my Dr's surgery on the Monday (Meadowside Heysham) I was given an appointment same day 12.30 and seen by the practice nurse. I was excamined and told I was being referred to the Head and Throat specialist at the RLI. If I thought the two days wait to see a Dr was bad my thoughts ran a mock when I heard I had to go back to the RLI to see another specialist. I had already seen an ENT Dr on the Monday 1st August, before visiting my dentist! The nurse advised and tried to reassure me also saying that if I hadn't received an appointment within the next 6 days to ring back to my Dr and inform them. I got on the wrong bus home that took me on a tour of Heysham new link road and Lancaster, I needed to go to Morecambe central. I changed buses at Lancaster to get home to Morecambe again. All told I was on two buses well over an hour and before I got off I had received a 'missed' call from an 01539 No which I knew to be Kendal hospital appointment number. Now that is quick and my head is spinning but what wonderful service from all involved. When Kendal called again to my home phone they gave me an appointment for Wed 10/08/16 at 9a.m. Two days from seeing Dr's practice nurse to seeing a Specialist My appointment was with Mr (Dr) Thiru Siva. Somehow over the 5 days I had come to the conclusion that if 'it' was anything untoward I would get all my questions answered take advise then decide myself what I wanted to do. I'm one of those people that need to know what is happening to me so I can make my own decisions, no-matter how hard it would be. Dr Siva welcomed me with a smile and asked me to sit down. He took his time to listen to what I had to say then excamined my neck, throat and mouth. I felt he had time to answer my questions and was totally relieved to hear him say my lump was related to a gland. He advised me for future reference on throat/neck lumps and what I should look out for. This feedback is really to thank all who work for the NHS. Also, if it gives some reassurance to one person I'd be chuffed. All lumps etc must be checked out but all lumps are not what we sometimes think they are . I send my gradtitude to all mentoned above. I'll certainly be checking my throat/neck from now on. MMH

Dr Siva was very welcoming and made us feel at ease. He answered our questions honestly and reassuringly. He carried out an investigation in a professional manner and we felt we could ask questions of him and he explained in a gentle way. We trusted him and if we are dealing with a worst case scenario then are glad he is on our side.
